Reconnect with the Word

January 13, 2019

Each year, my pastor seeks the Lord for a word for our congregation. It is published and is intended to set us in agreement and on a course for the coming year. This word declares 2019 to be the Year of Plenty, Overflow, and Growth. One portion of the word says: “In 2019, there will be a recommitment and reconnection to the Word [Bible].” It further says: “In 2019, those who are ruled by the Word will be those who prosper and always come out on top.”

These are bold promises, but they are also in keeping with what the Bible tells us. The blessings of those who are in Christ (according to Galatians 3:14) are described in Deuteronomy 28:1-14. Verse 13 states:

And the Lord will make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you this day and are watchful to do them. (AMP)

Those who are ruled by the Word of God — who read it, meditate on it, and are watchful to do according to what they read in it — are promised a year of plenty, overflow, and growth. To honor the Word of God is to honor God Himself. God is getting you ready for something big. Press into it by reconnecting with the Word, and you will have a year of opportunities and blessings that is unlike any other.
